Steam Deck Beta Client Update February 9th: GabeN Knows You Have Too Many Games
Startup times are improved for those with "tens of thousands of games". The ability to choosing a game to play? As difficult as ever.
Valve continues improving on the Steam Deck’s software every week and that’s clearly evident in how frequent they release beta client updates. We’re graced with another one this week fixing some issues in the Desktop client of Steam and gyro drift with Nintendo Switch controllers. What’s more interesting is that GabeN knows your game hoarding habits and he’s here to alleviate your slow startup times.
Yes the first item in the change log is described as, “Reduced startup time for users with tens of thousands of games in their library”. Tens of thousands?! Talk about choice paralysis. Well at least you won’t be waiting as lot to experience that choice paralysis thanks to the improved start up times. You can see the full changelog down below.

*Fixed small movement of Virtual Keyboard when pressing shift in some themes

*Fixed issue where a Team Fortress 2 Steam Controller startup sound was missing
*Fixed some issues with Nintendo switch gyro drift calibration
Desktop Mode
*Fixed Control-1/Control-2 hotkeys not working in Big Picture Mode
*Reverted back to old Game Info dialog that is accessible from the Friends List
*Fixed crash when opening Steam store
*Fixed Steam library becoming unusable after applying a controller configuration
